Gamma Ray & Helloween 20 September, 2008 @ Palladium, MA

This was a fantastic show! Of coarse, it is Helloween and Gamma Ray, so that is expected. There was much less people than I expected to be there. And this was surprising, considering that one does not always get the chance to see these two great bands.

The crowd played it's part well. We all sang along to both Gamma Ray and Helloween. There was not much pushing or shoving either. Gamma Ray was wonderful because it was not crowded at all, and one could truely enjoy the band! Once Helloween came on, things became a little crowded. However, still very good. The mosh pits were not too bad this time either, and some were quite enjoyable!

I felt as this concert had "true fans", rather than hardcore fans looking to simply push people. The concert couldn't have ended more perfect either. "Future World" by Helloween, and then "I want out" by both Gamma and Helloween.

Truely an epic concert. 10/10 stars!

Opeth 19 September, 08 (The Palladium, MA)

The first band was Nachtmystium, which was an okay band I suppose. I have never been big into the "black metal" scene. The crowd was somewhat moved, although I was not very impressed.

The second band was High on Fire. The good thing about this band was that I liked the performance of the lead signer. He seemed quite pleased about being on stage, and not gloomy and forgetting he has an audience. However, High on Fire is not my cup of tea either...

Lastly, Opeth came on. At this point, I have been pushed to about third row from the fence. I thought that the moshing overall was a bit too much for Opeth. There were some people who thought it was a hardcore show, having no regard for others.

After about a few songs into Opeth, I got frustrated at the moshing and decided to take a coke and go up to the balcony. The sound quality was much better (I have actually never before left the pit). Best of all, there was no bad smell thanks to the lack of deodorants! Opeth put on a good show. They played songs from various albums, ranging from even their oldest ones! Mike and the rest were in a great mood, which really added to the show. A hilarious comment made by Mike towards Per was "Per looks like fuckin' Conan, minus the muscles".

The set list
Heir Apparent
Grand Conjuration
Serenity Painted Death
Hope Leaves
The Lotus Eater
Bleak
Night and the Silent Water
Deliverance
Demon of the Fall
The Drapery Falls

The show was great overall. 8/10!
